You will have all heard the latest news on another lockdown for England.

We want to reassure you that we are able to stay open and your booked appointments still stand. We received the following statement last night:

England lockdown: Dental practices to remain open

Following the PM's announcement this evening that a third lockdown in England will come into effect from midnight tonight, we have received confirmation from the Office of the CDO that dental services in England are to remain.

Dentistry is an essential medical service. It is a priority for the NHS. Patients are entitled to travel for medical appointments, including dental. As a reminder, dental professionals are defined by the Government as critical workers. BDA (British Dental Association).

Our main priority is and always has been the safety of our staff and patients. We have full PPE and we follow the strictest infection prevention protocols as we always have done.

If you would like to postpone your appointments we understand and would be grateful if you could let us know as soon as possible by emailing info@thedentistsalisbury.co.uk or by calling us on 01722413513.

We are available for new patients and emergencies as we enter this new phase. If your friends and family need assistance please do recommend us, we don't want people to face the struggle with dental pain as they did in the first lockdown.

I’m sure you have heard the wonderful news that we have been given the go ahead by the Chief Dental Officer to commence opening from Monday 8th June.⠀

The goal is to resume a full service to all our patients in a safe and effective way as soon as is practicable.⠀

To ensure safety of you and our team THE dentist will operate rather differently from before. The need for social distancing where possible and effective infection control prevention means new operating procedures must be put in place.⠀

Whilst a lot of the work has been done we are still waiting for delivery of the correct PPE. We are sure that you understand this is not easy to come by and with last night’s announcement a surge in demand is likely.⠀

At the beginning of the pandemic we donated the PPE we had to local care homes who had none.⠀
⠀
With the above in mind we aim to open at the beginning of July, earlier if we can.⠀
⠀
In the first instance will be triaging patients and prioritising those with urgent care needs.⠀

We urge you not to call us unless you have a dental emergency. We are unable to book appointments until everything is in place and we are ready to go. ⠀

As soon as our appointment book is open we will let you know and will specifically contact all those who are overdue.⠀
